Framing a finished puzzle can be a real challenge. But with the right tools and a bit of skill, anyone can master this task. Here you’ll learn how to frame your puzzle properly and showcase it skillfully.

Step 1: Gluing the Puzzle – Which Method Suits You?

Before you put on a frame, the puzzle must be stable. There are two proven methods:

Liquid Puzzle Glue

The liquid glue is applied evenly to the front of the finished puzzle. Important: The puzzle should be completely finished and lying on a flat surface. The glue dries clear and bonds the pieces permanently. Drying time: at least 4–6 hours, ideally overnight. After that, the puzzle is rigid and can be moved without any problems.

Puzzle Adhesive Film

The adhesive film is applied from the back – without touching the front side. This is especially practical if you want to avoid fingerprints on the surface. The film sticks self-adhesively to the back of the puzzle and holds the pieces securely together. This method is faster and easier for many to handle.

Step 2: Choosing the Right Frame

Not every frame fits every puzzle. The crucial question is: What size is your puzzle?

Step 3: Framing the Puzzle – Step by Step

1. Open the clips on the back of the frame
2. Remove the frame base
3. Place and align the glued puzzle on the frame base
4. Remove the acrylic glass from the frame, peel off the protective film
5. Carefully place the acrylic glass on the puzzle
6. Place the frame – make sure everything fits flush
7. Carefully turn the frame and close the clips
8. Hanging up

Tip: Two people make this step much easier – one holds, one closes.

Where is the best place to hang your puzzle?

A finished framed puzzle can look like a true work of art – if placed correctly. A few thoughts on that:

Avoid direct sunlight. UV radiation can cause colors to fade over time. A bright room without direct sunlight is ideal.

Choose the right wall size. A 1000-piece puzzle in the 48 × 68 cm format needs some wall space around it so it doesn’t feel cramped.

Hang them thematically. A mandala puzzle works well in the bedroom or meditation room. A landscape puzzle can be a calm eye-catcher in the living room or hallway.

Can I frame a puzzle without glue? Only to a limited extent. Without glue, the pieces can shift during transport or hanging. For a permanent wall solution, we always recommend gluing beforehand.

How long does the glue need to dry? Liquid puzzle glue needs at least 4–6 hours, preferably overnight. The adhesive film is ready to use immediately.
