Visiting our framing workshop — where quality is still crafted by hand
There are moments on a business trip you don’t forget. Visiting our frame manufacturer in northern Italy was one of them.
We didn’t visit a large industrial company. No assembly lines, no anonymous halls, no mass production. Instead: a small family business that has been making frames for generations. Sawdust in the air, the smell of freshly worked pine wood, craftsmanship you can see and feel.

Why we source our frames from Italy
We could have made it easier for ourselves. Frames from the Far East are cheaper, more readily available, and easy to order. We consciously decided against that.
The reason is simple: Our puzzles are Made in Germany — with precision die-cutting, high-quality cardboard, and print quality we don’t leave to chance. Would it be logical to put the finished artwork into a frame that doesn’t do justice to that quality?
No. So we went to Italy.
What impressed us in the workshop
The FSC-certified pine wood used here comes from sustainably managed forests. Each frame is made in several steps: cutting, sanding, gluing, surface treatment. Much of this is done by hand — not because there are no machines, but because handcraft is simply better at the crucial points.
What stood out to us especially: the care taken with the mitered corners. This is where four frame parts meet and must form a perfect rectangle. Anyone who has bought a cheap frame knows the problem — the corners don’t fit exactly, the frame warps, the finished puzzle wobbles. That doesn’t happen with our frames. The precision of this small workshop ensures that.

Sustainability you can feel
FSC certification is not just a marketing term for us. The certificate means: The wood comes from forests managed to be preserved long-term. No overexploitation, no monocultures, no long, opaque supply chains.
Short distances, genuine craftsmanship, certified materials — that is the foundation of our puzzle frames. And that makes the difference you see when the finished puzzle hangs on the wall.
From the workshop directly to you
After this visit, we know even more precisely why we chose this partner — and why we wouldn’t replace them. A puzzle laid with care deserves a frame crafted with the same care.

Our premium puzzle frames for 2000-piece puzzles are available in three versions: black, white, and oak. Soon also available in gold, wenge, and shabby chic. All variants fit perfectly on our 1000 and 2000-piece puzzles — no adjustments, no wobbling, no compromises.
